The world cannot leave us because we are more advanced. Even if they persuade more countries not to use us temporarily, we can always scale things down a bit,” Ren was quoted by BBC’s Karishma Vaswani in his first international broadcast interview on Feb. 18th.Mr. Ren also denounced as politically motivated at the arrest of his daughter, Ms. Meng Wanzhou; Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer — accused of money laundering, bank fraud and stealing trade secrets from U.S.As Chief Financial Officer of Huawei, Meng Wanzhou has played a part in the company’s efforts over the past five years to become more transparent about its operations | Photo Credit : Alexander Bibik/Reuters. – Advertisement – Ms. Meng was arrested on Dec. 1st 2018 in Vancouver at the request of the U.S, and is expected to be the subject of a formal extradition request.Mr. Ren said U.S likes to sanction others, whenever there’s an issue. “They’ll use such combative methods.”“We object to this. But now that we’ve gone down this path, we’ll let the courts settle it,” Mr. Ren told BBC.Tackling the issue of 5G coverage, which the government of U.S and other governments don’t want to see the telecom firm roll-out. Last year, security concerns prompted Australia to ban Huawei equipment from its future 5G network.New Zealand has also blocked its largest telecom carrier from using Huawei technology for the next generation network, while the Czech Republic has reportedly excluded it from a EUR 20 million (roughly UGX83 billion) tender to build a tax portal. Meanwhile, the British government decided it can mitigate the risks arising from the use of Huawei Technologies in 5G networks. UK’s mobile companies, including Vodafone, EE and Three, are working with Huawei to develop their 5G networks.Huawei is now awaiting a government review from UK, due in March or April, that will decide whether they can use their technology.[related-posts]Spying the U.S GovernmentHuawei since last year, has been under scrutiny—expressing concern that its technology could be used by China’s security services to spy the U.S government.“Our company will never undertake any spying activities. If we have any such actions, then I’ll shut the company down,” said Mr. Ren.

Almond PHONE: (713) 348-6770 E-MAIL: email@example.com Rice University’s Baker Institute issues ‘Trilateral Action Plan for Road Map Phase I Implementation’Report follows up on previous recommendations to help Israelis and Palestinians A report focusing on what needs to be done following the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and part of the Northern West Bank and during the upcoming period when Israelis and Palestinians are preparing for elections was published online today by Rice University’s James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy. Titled “Trilateral Action Plan for Road Map Phase I Implementation,” the report complements a policy paper the Baker Institute issued in February after convening an international group of experts for a workshop on creating a Road Map implementation process under U.S. leadership. The new report acknowledges the success of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in brokering the stalemate over the Rafah crossing issue in November and the important work of Lt. General William Ward and James Wolfensohn in laying the groundwork for tactical movement forward on Palestinian security reforms and economic development. For strategic change to be achieved, the Palestinian Authority (PA) will need sufficient domestic legitimacy to carry out its Phase I obligations: creating law and order, effective government and a monopoly over the use of force. In discussions with Israeli and Palestinian decision makers, the Baker Institute gained the impression that by the time the elections end in spring 2006, both parties will have a vested interest in moving from tactical measures to strategic change. “The new Israeli prime minister, regardless of party affiliation, will have an interest in defining Israel’s borders, seeking international legitimacy for doing so and, if possible, Palestinian agreement,” the report states. “According to this scenario, Israel is likely to seek negotiations once the Palestinians meet their Phase I Road Map obligations. Under the leadership of President Abu Mazen, the PA appears determined to move toward Phase I implementation in order to return to permanent status negotiations.” The report suggests that when circumstances evolve and both sides return to the negotiating table within the framework of the Road Map, Israel’s interest in defining its final borders and the Palestinian interest in reaching a permanent status agreement will coincide to facilitate progress in the peace process. Among the recommendations made in the report: * The Quartet should issue an expanded mission statement for the security and economic envoys to empower them to oversee Phase I implementation of the Road Map on behalf of the Quartet. Strengthening the international support structure and promoting economic development should be key objectives for initial implementation of the Israeli-Palestinian Road Map. Building effective security capacities to meet the needs of both Israeli and Palestinian societies is also a critical recommendation. * The U.S. government should urge the Israeli, Palestinian and Egyptian leadership to facilitate ongoing Egyptian efforts in overcoming fragmentation within the Fatah-controlled security apparatuses and to promote the Palestinian national dialogue, which would permit the PA to fully implement its strategic goal of “one authority, one law, one gun.” * A Security Support Unit should be created and modeled after the Negotiation Support Unit, including U.S. and international security experts as well as Palestinian security officials. * The Quartet should take the lead in creating an Information Support Unit to reinforce public opinion against continued violence. * A trilateral committee should be created to devise a detailed program that permits the PA to assume full security and civil control over the Northern West Bank. * The U.S. should develop a bilateral oversight structure with the government of Israel to facilitate implementation of Israeli obligations given at Sharam el-Sheikh in February 2005 and in the Dov Weisglass letter of April 2004. Additional recommendations can be found in the full report at the Baker Institute Web site, http://bakerinstitute.org . “It is our hope that decision makers, under current political circumstances, will take these suggestions under serious consideration in order to secure Phase I implementation of the Road Map and to then launch consultations with the parties, under United States leadership and within the framework of the Quartet, on Phases II and III implementation of the Road Map,” said Edward Djerejian, director of the Baker Institute. A Baker Institute study on these issues will be prepared in spring 2006.
Share David Ruth713firstname.lastname@example.orgMike Williams713email@example.comRice University students build sensor to save premature infantsHOUSTON – (April 12, 2012) – Rice University students have developed an inexpensive, battery-powered neonatal monitor for infants that could save many lives in the developing world.Five bioengineering students created the Babalung Apnea Monitor for a yearlong senior capstone project that is required of all graduating engineering students at Rice. The device consists of a small electronic microcontroller connected to an adjustable strap with a stretch sensor.Team Breath Alert – Rachel Alexander, Rachel Gilbert, Jordan Schermerhorn, Bridget Ugoh and Andrea Ulrich – began with the knowledge that nearly half of the 12 million babies born prematurely in developing countries experience episodes of apnea, a sudden stoppage of breathing. In general, a tap on the foot can prompt the child to resume breathing, but the widespread occurrence of the problem means there isn’t always someone available to administer that simple remedy. The Babalung may be the next best thing, an ingenious combination of low- and high-tech that tries on its own to restart a baby’s breathing and raises a flag if it can’t, the students said. The first line of defense is the elastic sensor contained within the strap surrounding the infant’s chest. “The strap expands and contracts, which the system sees as a sine wave,” said Ulrich. When the wave stops for 20 seconds, the attached microcontroller turns on a vibrating motor to prompt the infant to take a breath. If the child still isn’t breathing five seconds later, a visual alarm is triggered.“We thought about an audio alarm, but there’s the risk that a nurse wouldn’t hear it in a large room. And an alarm loud enough to hear might damage the baby’s hearing,” Alexander said.“So we went with a flashing bike light raised above the crib, so you can see it across a room,” Gilbert said. “Now we’re doing research into what frequencies of pulsation attract the most attention.”“This team has worked tirelessly to design a useful technology for very-low-resource settings,” said Maria Oden, director of Rice’s Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen and an adviser to the team. “They sought feedback from physicians who work in those settings and incorporated this advice into their prototype. The unique feature of the device is the system that alerts a baby as an intervention to apnea — all without requiring a nurse to intervene.”Gary Woods, a Rice professor in the practice of computer technology in the department of electrical and computer engineering, is also advising the team. Woods’ own students have designed a smartphone app to receive data from the device via Bluetooth. The team hopes to send three prototypes for testing in developing nations through Beyond Traditional Borders, part of the Rice 360˚: Institute for Global Health Technologies, this summer. But they envision uses for parents closer to home as well. While their primary goal is saving babies in developing countries, they would love to see Babalung on American shelves to give parents peace of mind.“We did a survey in January, asking recent mothers whether or not they use a SIDS monitor or an apnea monitor for their infants, and if they did, what their biggest complaint was. The No. 1 complaint was the number of false alarms,” Alexander said.In 50 tests that the students performed mostly on themselves, the Babalung gave no false alarms. “We caught every actual case of apnea,” Gilbert said. “We also learned how hard it is to stop breathing for 20 seconds.”Team members said the device costs about $25 to build now, but they hope that continued development will drive the price down further for units bound to aid global health. “In developing nations, caregivers are so understaffed and overwhelmed that to provide something this simple feels like a straightforward solution,” Ugoh said. Her incentive to join the project came from a place closer to her heart, though. “My sister had a baby last year, and she would stay up, not go to sleep, because she was worried whether her son was breathing or not,” Ugoh said. “I told her, ‘You know what? Next year I’m going to make you a device that detects breathing and will let you know.’ Lo and behold, this project was offered and it was on the top of my list.”The public can meet Team Breath Alert this week at Rice’s UnConvention, April 12-14, when it competes for prizes of up to $5,000 in the annual George R. Brown School of Engineering Design Showcase, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 12 at Tudor Fieldhouse. The team will also be at the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen open house April 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.-30-Breath Alert: http://oedk.rice.edu/Content/Members/MemberPublicProfile.aspx?pageId=1137257&memberId=5458883Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen: http://oedk.rice.edu/ Located on a 300-acre forested campus in Houston, Rice University is consistently ranked among the nation’s top 20 universities by U.S. News & World Report. We called the police so we can get a report stating the school would not give us the incident report! They then called the police on us and had us PARENTS ARRESTED for trespassing on school property!!!” Gregory Pitre wrote on Facebook.“Why would you have parents taken away in handcuffs when they’re trying to discuss a serious issue with you?” Gregory Pitre said. The arrest came after Kristen Pitre and the principal went into the classroom and were able to view dozens of pornographic images on the computer.Pitre wrote on Facebook that “The children of our school have been subjected to illegal material for over a year.”“The district has pulled the wool over our eyes and have set smoke screens to deter from their negligence. Please share and stay tuned. Parents need to be made aware. Our children’s best interest instant [sic] always at hand. Thank you for everyone’s support!” she added. She also said that her son “wants for no other children to have to see what he saw.”The school released a statement.“As a result of a thorough diagnostic assessment, it was determined that our filtering system had failed to properly block a specific website. The District immediately put additional internet safety precautions in place that would prevent access to this site and any of its nature,” North Babylon School District Superintendent Glen Eschbach said.“These actions include, limiting the search engines available to students and staff, utilizing Google Safe Search, and monitoring district filters twice a day through manual review by our technology department. Please know that the well-being of our students is our utmost concern and top priority when educating our students.”From NTD.tv LINKEDINPINTERESTREDDITTUMBLRSTUMBLEUPON Share Share this article Recommended Video: Lost World War I Submarine Found 103 Years Later US News Show Discussion
Feminist Apparel CEO Fires Staff After Sexual Abuse Post Surfaces By Jack Phillips July 12, 2018 Updated: July 12, 2018 The CEO of popular clothing company Feminist Apparel fired a number of staff members after allegations of sexual misconduct against him surfaced, according to a report. The firm’s clothing features slogans such as “Cats against catcalls” and “Misogyny kills,” which were popular at events like the Women’s March.Refinery29 reported that Alan Martofel, the CEO, had an admitted history of assaulting women. After employees asked for him to resign, he fired many of them except for an outside consultant. The site reported that he was also accused of rape.He wrote in a Facebook post: “I’ve grinded up on women on buses and at concerts without their consent. I’ve made out with ‘the drunk chick’ at a party because it was easier.” He also admitted to making an inappropriate move with a woman while she slept.“We’ve all either faced this firsthand, seen it, heard a firsthand account of it, or are guilty of it ourselves,” Martofel wrote in the 2013 post. “I’m someone who’s guilty of it,” he said, before elaborating on what he did. In the post, he said that he’s a recovering abuser. Launching the Philadelphia-based Feminist Apparel is his “humble attempt” to “solve” the problem.Former Feminist Apparel Sales and Marketing Manager Loretta Gary said she believed that she found her dream job. “Alan sold me a story of inclusion, collaboration, and an eventual revolution within the garment industry that I so deeply wanted to believe in,” she wrote. “I’m disgusted, saddened,” she added.Gary said that after the allegations against Martofel surfaced, employees tried to come to work as normal.“Last week, Alan laid off nine employees from a 10 person staff – myself included. Of course it felt abrupt and like retaliation from many of us confronting him about his confessed history of sexual assault the week prior, but if we’re honest this was a long time coming,” she wrote. “He played me as he used all of my coworkers and me for his personal gain. Then he stripped each of us from our jobs and livelihoods once we challenged him too much,” she added.Earlier this month, Martofel wrote in a blog post about all the stories that have “been written about me, my narrative, and the company I founded 5 years ago.”“I want to make a few things abundantly clear: If you’re a customer waiting on an order, rest assured that it’s working it’s way to you. If you’re an artist on our site who no longer wishes to sell their work with us, contact us and we’ll have it taken down immediately,” he wrote. Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), Chair of the House Committee on the Judiciary in Washington on July 12, 2018. (Samira Bouaou/The Epoch Times) The House Judiciary Committee is looking to interview—and will subpoena if necessary—Justice Department (DOJ) official Bruce Ohr and his wife, Nellie Ohr, along with several current and former FBI and DOJ officials.“We plan to interview the people noted in the coming weeks and we will issue subpoenas to compel their attendance if necessary,” a committee aide wrote in an email to The Epoch Times. The DOJ confirmed that the committee reached out to them in regard to the interviews.House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte could issue orders as early as the coming week, according to the Hill. Goodlatte’s committee is part of a joint investigation with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee into decisions made by the FBI and the DOJ during the 2016 election. Bruce Ohr on March 18, 2014. (Italy in US via Flickr [CC BY-ND 2.0]) The committee’s interview requests come on the heels of revelations that Bruce Ohr maintained contact with former British spy Christopher Steele for more than a year after the FBI terminated ties with Steele for leaking to the media. Ohr then became Steele’s back-door conduit for feeding information to the FBI.Ohr also attempted to reinstate Steele with the bureau and link him into special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe. The pair remained in contact until mid-November 2017.The revelations are problematic because Ohr has no official role in the Russia investigation and Steele had been prohibited from collecting intelligence on behalf of the FBI. The problem is compounded by the fact that Ohr’s wife, Nellie Ohr, worked for the same opposition research firm as Steele, Fusion GPS.Steele authored the opposition research dossier on then-candidate Donald Trump that was used to secure a warrant to spy on former Trump campaign volunteer Carter Page. Many of the dossier’s claims have been debunked while the rest remain unverified. It was the Hillary Clinton Campaign and the Democratic National Committee that ultimately paid for Steele’s work. FBI and DOJ officials who used the dossier to apply for a secret court surveillance warrant on Page failed to mention that fact to the judge.Ohr met with FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page shortly after meeting Steele in late November 2016. Strzok, Page, and Steele were found to be strongly biased against Trump. Congressional investigators have reviewed text messages that show Steele and Strzok were willing to take action to stop Trump from becoming president. The messages show Strzok musing about impeaching Trump days after joining special counsel Mueller’s team. The committee is also looking to interview current and former FBI and DOJ officials James Baker, Sally Moyer, Jonathan Moffa, and George Toscas. In January, Goodlatte reached a deal with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to interview a number of DOJ and FBI officials, including Ohr, Baker, Moyer, Strzok, Page, FBI assistant directors Gregory Brower and Bill Priestap, and FBI special agent James Rybicki. Since then, only Page, Priestap, and Strzok are publicly known to have testified.Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes referred several of the above officials to Goodlatte in a letter in late June.Baker, Brower, Page, and Rybicky have resigned from the FBI. Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, which answers only to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said it shot down the drone Thursday morning when it entered Iranian airspace near the Kouhmobarak district in southern Iran’s Hormozgan province. Kouhmobarak is some 750 miles (1,200 kilometers) southeast of Tehran and is close to the Strait of Hormuz.Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, citing the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, identified the drone as an RQ-4 Global Hawk.Capt. Bill Urban, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, declined to immediately comment when asked if an American drone was shot down. However, he told The Associated Press: “There was no drone over Iranian territory.”A later ABC report, which said that the drone was a U.S. Navy MQ-4C Triton, cited a U.S. official who said that the drown “was shot down by an Iranian surface to air missile while the reconnaissance drone was flying in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday.”Meanwhile, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Trump had been “briefed on the reports of a missile strike in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”“We are closely monitoring the situation and continuing to consult with our partners and allies,” Sanders said. The Houthi’s Al-Masirah satellite news channel claimed the rebels targeted a power plant in Jizan, near the kingdom’s border with Yemen, with a cruise missile. Saudi state media and officials did not immediately report a missile strike Thursday.A Saudi-led coalition has been battling the Houthis since March 2015 in Yemen, the Arab world’s poorest nation now pushed to the brink of famine by the conflict. Email Google+ LinkedIn on December 20, 2012 Like Santa in his North Pole workshop, Sisters’ Ren Broomhead is hard at work this season crafting handmade wooden toys for curious children and adults with a playful heart.Broomhead moved to Sisters three years ago from Washington, where he worked for Weyerhaeuser for 34 years and retired in 1997. He and his wife, Sue, relocated to Central Oregon for three things: the weather, the quilting and the abundant area hiking trails.“After a while you get tired of the grey rainy days,” he said. “My wife is an avid quilter and I’m a big backpacker and hiker. We have a lot of special friends here and been to Sisters so many times for quilt show and to visit good friends.”Broomhead’s wordworking is just a hobby but he values his time piecing together the various creations.“When we had young grandchildren I decided to build a small rocking horse for them and that’s where it began. One’s called a Mini Mare and the other a Baby Bessie rocking cow. I just enjoy working with wood and thought I’d try it out. My grandkids are all too old now so I thought I’d make them for other grandparents. Then I made a buckboard bench from recycled barnwood. I started creating them out of red oak then saw all this leftover wood I had and that’s how I got going doing the toys.”These wood remnants lying around the garage gave Broomhead the inspiration to deliver his toy fleet of tractors, cranes, bulldozers, diesel trucks and flatbed trailers.“I have a contact at the Toys And Joys catalog that provide the blueprints and some of the accessories like wheels and dowels and that’s about it. Everything else is cut and built by hand. “Each miniature vehicle is extensively sanded and assembled one at a time according to the complicated master plans.“Our son, John, is in the Army and I made him a Humvee vehicle. He’s a lieutenant colonel stationed in Germany but now deployed to Afghanistan. We packed up and brought this 19-inch solid wood hummer back with us to his change of command ceremony in Virginia Beach last June. He took it with him to his office in Germany. It’s made out of pine, red oak and black walnut for contrast and weighs about ten pounds. It’s a lot of sanding and fitting, then finished with a spray varnish to maintain colors. The hummer alone had nine pages of plans and over a hundred pieces.”Next up for Broomhead is a bulldozer to sit on his lowboy trailer.“It has black walnut tracks and a lot of detail,” he explained. “I think the challenge is the best part of making all these toys and improving the skills that I have. I’ve not a cabinetmaker by any means but I enjoy doing it and it’s a relaxing activity.”Broomhead wishes to credit the folks at Donterra Artworks for making space available for the rocking horses, buckboard chairs and barnwood bench.“They’re good people and have been really helpful,” he said.Broomhead’s line of toy trucks can be seen and purchased at the Three Sisters Lions Club Holiday Faire in the Three Winds Shopping Center and at Donterra Artworks on Hood Avenue.Anyone interested in prices and availability can reach him at email@example.com or call 435-714-0327. Oregon Small Business Owners Call For Immigration Reform With Earned Citizenship Twitter Email Share. By CBN Main Street Alliance of Oregon leaders say comprehensive approach best for businesses and economy, release small business principles for immigration reform.Main Street Alliance of Oregon , a statewide network of small business owners, released the statements below from small business leaders in response to developments on immigration reform this week, including Monday’s announcement of a bi-partisan Senate framework for reform and President Obama’s speech on immigration in Las Vegas. The Main Street Alliance also released a set of small business principles for immigration reform, available here: http://bit.ly/VkBuoJJose Gonzalez, owner of Tu Casa Real Estate in Salem:“A comprehensive immigration package with a path to earned citizenship is more than smart politics – it’s smart economics, and it’s the right move for small businesses and the economy. Comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship would expand our GDP by an estimated $1.5 trillion over 10 years. That’s nearly twice the GDP growth of reform without a path to citizenship. Our out-of-date and out-of-touch immigration policies are getting in the way of rebuilding the economy. It’s time to fix this problem now, this year.”Mark Gabriel of Advanced Chiropractic in Portland:“As an immigrant business owner who came to the U.S. to build a better life like so many before me, I’ve worked hard to build my business with my own two hands. As a chiropractor, that’s literally with my own two hands! Comprehensive immigration reform that recognizes the contributions of immigrants like me will provide a big boost to the local and national economy. A path to citizenship for immigrants in our country will be good for small businesses like mine – it will strengthen my customer base. We look forward to working hard to make that a reality.”Jim Gilbert owner of Northwoods Nursery in Molalla.“Small businesses need immigration reform that promotes productivity and reduces red tape. That means avoiding putting time-consuming administrative and enforcement responsibilities on the shoulders of small business owners. It also means fixing the broken laws that divide families. In a small business, we’re like a family and we recognize that what happens at home affects morale and focus at work. When an employee’s family is torn apart by our broken immigration laws, it hurts productivity and that’s bad for business. Immigration reform that keeps families together will protect productivity and let us focus on what we do best – serving our customers and creating jobs.” E-Headlines 0 Google+ Tumblr Pinterest LinkedIn Facebook on January 31, 2013
0 E-Headlines Google+ Today our Baby Boomers are living longer than anticipated. With their extended lifespans the need for planning for the last 20 years of life has eclipsed the focus on after death planning. With the proliferation of dementia, Alzheimer’s and a host of other crippling diseases, many boomers are faced with deterioration of life for years prior to death. They face serious decisions about who will take care of them, who will make their medical and financial decisions and how they will pay for long term care costs. Those decisions must be made while you are still competent and capable of understanding what you are doing. If time runs out and you have not made those decisions you then have to turn to the court for the appointment of guardians and conservators.Today many boomers are without long term care insurance and will not qualify. The insurance rates are rising steadily making it unaffordable for all but a few. Many are concerned that without long term care insurance their assets will be consumed by catastrophic long term care expenses. Planning for Medicaid long term care benefits is essential. This is especially true for married couples when one of the spouses is likely to well outlive the other. Assets need to be protected to provide for well spouse. All too often boomers wait until there is a crisis before addressing the planning. A simple rule is that you will have more planning options and solutions the earlier the planning is addressed.Planning for the last 20 years of life includes long term care planning as well as estate planning. In today’s “boomer world” the long term care planning conversation must be addressed any time you are considering estate planning.I focus my practice on planning for the last 20 years of life through long term care and estate planning to provide my clients with solutions for the obstacles to come. How to start a Handyman Business E-Headlines Twitter on February 11, 2019 Google+ Has anyone ever told you, “Wow, you really have a knack for woodwork projects”, or have you ever thought to yourself “I’m really good at fixing things!”. Then you might want to consider starting a handyman business. This is great if you are on a job hunt and are having a difficult time, if you are tired of the same old boring nine to five, or if you simply want a side hustle. Whatever the reason may be starting a successful handyman business is very much attainable if you are dedicated and if you are a step in the right direction. In order to start a handyman business, you will have to answer a few very important questions. Once you have answered these questions then you should be good to go!WHAT SERVICES WOULD YOU OFFER?The most important question to be answered is the types of services you would offer. Are you good at electrical work, or are you more carpentry inclined? Do you have expertise in the area of plumbing, or can you do all three? Once you have established this, you can move on to the next step.WHAT ARE THE LAWS GOVERNING THESE TYPES OF SERVICES IN YOUR AREA?Across the states, the contracting laws vary and the services you may be able to offer without a license in one state, cannot be offered without a license in another. It would be very unfortunate to start your business then run into problems later because of licensing so you will need to do your research using this state by state guide. It is recommended that you do obtain a license though as this will make you more credible and you will have more potential customers calling.WHAT WOULD BE THE MARKET FOR YOUR SERVICES?For any business venture, a clear, defined market needs to be established before any capital or time is invested. If you are in an area where every other house has a handyman, then you should reconsider what services you plan to offer or look outside of that area for a market. It is important to note that competitions exists everywhere and you should not lower your prices just to attract customers. If you are good at what you do, and are offering a great service, the customers will come.HOW DO OTHER HANDYMAN BUSINESSES IN YOUR AREA THRIVE?In order for you to succeed, you must do some research on your competition. Why is it that they are able to thrive while others fail? You will be able to learn a lot about the business by asking questions and by doing some online research. This will help you to market better, set reasonable prices, learn how to interact with customers, find the highest quality materials at the best prices, and so much more. You will also need to determine the best rates and work hours based on the competition and your own personal needs and availability.HOW WILL YOU MARKET YOUR BUSINESS?Where most handyman businesses fail is in the marketing department. However, based on the research that you have done, you should be able to come up with a good marketing strategy to attract your target customers.Try multiple ways to market your handyman business from radio ads, television ads, social media ads, a website, newspaper ads, magazine interviews, posters, flyers and so on, to reach more customers.Once you discover which method/s work best, overtime your marketing strategy will improve and you will attract even more customers.HOW MUCH CAPITAL WILL YOU NEED TO START UP YOUR BUSINESS?Unless you already have money saved up, you will probably need a small business loan to start up your business.Make a list of all the tools such as hammers and screwdrivers along with nail guns and cordless equipment like angle grinders and that you will need then tally the costs to determine how much money you will really need.Once you have answered all these questions, create a business plan. What are your goals and your expectations? Will this business be profitable? You will also need to get a small business insurance as accidents and property damage are a possibility and it is better to be prepared for these instances. This is crucial for your success. If you want to start a Handyman business that will last, it is important that you answer all these questions thoroughly to give yourself the best chance of success. Once you have a detailed understanding of what you want and a clear vision of the future, nothing can stop you. Stick to your goal, and work tirelessly towards it. You can succeed. ASUS has just released what should be the best UltraWide gaming monitor ever with its ROG Swift PG35VQ monitor, a beasty 35-inch panel with a native 3840×1440 resolution and super-slick 200Hz refresh rate backed up by NVIDIA G-Sync HDR tech. The previous-gen ASUS ROG Swift PG35Q rolled out with the same 3840×1440 resolution but with a 100Hz refresh rate, so the new ROG Swift PG35VQ speeding things up to a quite insane 200Hz (especially at this resolution) is huge. It has made the ROG Swift PG35VQ more expensive than current 4K 144Hz G-Sync displays, but you’re getting that awesome 21:9 aspect gaming world opening up. ASUS packs the ROG Swift PG35VQ with the 35-inch curved VA panel rocking out with a 4K-wide 3840×1440 resolution (up from the 3440×1440 on a 34-inch UltraWide) and all done using Quantum Dot technology. ASUS claims that it has “cinema-standard” DCI-P3 90% color gamut, too. We also have 1000 nits of peak brightness while being DisplayHDR 1000 certified, and only a few are actually at this level. ASUS never skimps on its flagship gaming monitors and the ROG Swift PG35VQ is not an exception, it’s a beautiful work of art inside from a technological and image quality standpoint. The new ASUS ROG Swift PG35VQ has launched in the UK for £2,699.99 which works out to just over $3400 in the US, and should be available in the coming weeks around the world. $740.99 $768.99 ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q TodayYesterday7 days ago30 days ago $768.99 Buy US$768.99
Jedi: Fallen Order has always been described as an exploration game with Metroidvania-style elements, like revisiting areas with new powers to unlock goodies or gear. But those features really haven’t been demonstrated very well. Today Respawn released the full Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay shown to press at E3 2019. Many say this footage better illustrates the game’s Metroid-style level traversal, which implies forking paths, unlockable areas, and secrets. But we didn’t really see much difference than the original footage; the game still looks quite linear, even if it gave small glimpses and affirmations of off-world travel (which is something that was already confirmed a bit ago). If anything, the footage underlines the cinematic scope of the game and further brings to mind Uncharted’s larger-than-life action sequences and puzzle solving (albeit in a more light manner). Not the confusing, often-gated labyrinthine exploration of a Metroid game. Sure we see Cal take a different path in the footage, but it’s not really a forking path where you could go either way. You literally have to go that way to restore the power to a metal wall so you can wall-run across it and proceed. It’s not actually a secondary path, but more of an example of what I’d like to call “indirect linearity,” or a side-step that’s only really there to create the illusion of a side path, but in reality it’s just part of the main trajectory. Read Also: Jedi: Fallen Order is Jedi Knight meets Uncharted The footage is welcomed, of course, but it’s still not a good way to exemplify the kind of elements Respawn said were in the game. We didn’t see Cal double-jump up a ledge or use a special ability to access a secret zone and grab a fancy new upgrade. We didn’t see him delve into a strange temple to unearth a hidden relic. We didn’t see the padawan–who wields his lightsaber like a highly-skilled Jedi–use Force pull to move some ruined husk of twisted metal to get to a special area or even a shortcut. Respawn says these kinds of things are in the game, but we just haven’t seen them yet. Last week I had a pretty inspiring lunch. Joe — an entrepreneur I have known for many years — was stricken by cancer last year. He went through a period of chemo and then went into remission only to have the cancer come back six months later. Joe is a young guy, in his 40s, and has three kids under the age of 15.As you would expect, Joe and his wife decided that it was time to focus on the things that matter. They sold their house in MA and moved out permanently to their home in Jackson Hole. Joe now spends a lot of time with his family and doing the things he loves. What struck me as surprising was that he continued to work. Joe is very comfortable from a financial standpoint, so he doesn’t need the cash. He could basically do anything he wanted. What was clear was that Joe loves building expansion stage companies.I can’t imagine, if Joe worked at GE or P&G, that he would have chosen to continue working. But he loves what he does and is inspired by the management teams that run these companies. It is experiences like this that only reinforce how lucky I am to be able to work with great entrepreneurs everyday. They are such compelling individuals and for Joe, they really matter.AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to FacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitterShare to PrintPrintShare to EmailEmailShare to MoreAddThis
