CPU cooler seem to get increasingly bigger in order to offer more cooling and/or lower levels of noise. Many of these massive coolers can be quite ugly beasts, but that doesn’t really matter when they are tucked away inside a case. However, Cooler Master has decided to offer a high performance air cooling solution that also looks the part. The design of the Cooler Master V8 GTS has been inspired by muscle cars, which is plain to see. This huge cooler weighs a total of 964 grams including the fans, and measures 154 x 150 x 166mm. That size and weight is warranted due to the inclusion of three triple tower aluminum fin heatsinks, eight heatpipes, two 140mm fans, and takes advantage of Horizontal Vapor Chamber technology to dissipate heat 8x faster and avoid CPU hotspots. The end result is an air cooler capable of dissipating thermal loads of 250W that’s compatible with Intel LGA 2011/1366/1156/1155/1150/775 and AMD FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3 /AM2 CPUs. If you have a window in your case, you’ll also appreciate the red LEDs attached to the fans and the dustproof claim Coller Master makes. Noise is also limited to a maximum of 36dBA while airflow is rated at between 28 and 82CFM depending on the fan speed. The V8 GTS will be available next month and costs $99. Be sure to check compatibility with your motherboard and case before purchasing, though. CPU coolers of this size have a tendency to interfere with RAM modules and typically need a fatter case to sit inside.
